hello, my name is lauren and i have been photographing children professionally
since 1993. my photographic style is documentary portraiture, which captures
childhood moments in real time, as opposed to inventing a romanticized image of
childhood, where the kids are merely props. it is a joy to work with children in their
own environments. i let your children dictate the shoot, and i photograph them
as they are, organically, in black and white, and yes, i still shoot film !!! kids have a
purity and an energy which is uniquely their own, and documentary photography
captures their inner and outer grace by engaging the child without directing them.
